June: Vince's Month

While most of May was celebrating Zoë and her accomplishments in dance class and preschool, June pulled us in multiple directions.  In between trips to New York, it was Vince's turn to share some of the spotlight.  His Kindergarten class had a fund raiser even at the local Frozen Yogurt Bar, and kids could enter a raffle to guess the number of pieces of candy in a jar.
Vince came within 7 pieces of guessing the correct number of candies in this huge jar, therefore winning the entire jar.... 306 pieces of candy!!  We have a lifetime supply of tootsie roll products now
Nothing much can beat winning a jug of candy, but it was topped off by Kindergarten Graduation.  We took a Friday morning off so we could watch him in his school show, and then celebrate as he received his kindergarten diploma
Graduating Kindergarten!
Vince is to the right of the girl with the rainbow pants.  Congrats little buddy!
Wave your diploma high!
Some fun with Nate at the kids carnival later that night
Then there was just that other minor day... VINCE'S 7TH BIRTHDAY!  Why does each birthday just hit me like a ton of bricks.  My first baby is 7!  We had numerous chances to celebrate Vince's birthday, the first one being on his actual day, which fell on a Wednesday.  Wednesday birthdays do have the potential to cut the celebration short... being the middle of the work week and all....but after karate class we invited a few buddies over to the pizza place below the karate studio, and were able to have a little cake and pizza party fun.

birthday cake #1: make a wish!
yes, his wish was for yet more sets of Lego's
pretty nice looking cake for a last minute run to the store
Then the weekend rolled around, and Vince got to celebrate again.  This time with 12 of his buddies, and his chosen venue was Legoland Discovery Center.  We started out in the party room, and every kid had some Lego toy to put together (read: parents spent time running to each kid to help put the monkey together).  Then more pizza, and some monkeying around...

More cake!  We bought Vince the double decker couch from the Lego movie and made it his cake topper.... don't forget the glow in the dark ghost of Vetruvius.  Vince was ecstatic

While I very much dislike stepping on these little pieces while barefoot, I do get entertained by some of Vince's lego creations.  He comes up with some interesting works.  Here's a transport machine he made out of the lego tool that they give you in big sets.  Beehive Hair Robot Woman sits happily on her "watchamacolit" as Vince named it...
An impressive 6 legged beast of some sort
