Luca wouldn't let go of this spatula the whole weekend. Somehow it made its way into our pool too!
say cheese!
Despite it being an incredible amount of work,(Mike and I didn't sit down for more than a minute all weekend)..... the kids ended up having a blast and wanting to do it all over again as soon as we could. No need to abort the mission. Zoë enjoyed playing with inch worms that she caught, naming each of them "inchie", and somehow ending up squeezing them a little too much once in a while. She's a regular bug collecting entomologist these days, loves to hold any bug or critter she sees.
showing me her little bug friend she made in the pool....
Minor casualties of the trip included mosquito bites, two ticks on Mike, Vince tripping over roots while on the trail, and part of the tent shelf (yes, our tent has a shelf) being ripped away as the kids giggled and wrestled each other for 2hrs (confusing our temporary shelter for a bouncy house).
A pause from our trail hike to take a picture
Zoë getting used to using hiking poles.
Vince screaming about how everyone should follow him
Smile for the camera little hikers!!
Exploring an old bunker, now decorated with graffiti
Luca gets a turn practicing with the hiking poles
Our little Hobbit, on his Unexpected Journey
Time to head back and eat some dinner!
Getting that meat cooking....
Vince was excited to find a lincoln log type bench
And then the craziness began.... kids bouncing and rolling around the tent until after 10pm!!
Last evidence of our nicely covered tent shelf on the left, before the door and lower shelf got ripped apart. Notice Vince in mid head bump with Zoë, while simultaneously body stomping poor Luca underneath him. The lucky part of being the oldest child is power and strength
