Trying Yet Another Baby Carrier

There certainly is a lot of hype around carrying your baby in some sort of helpful contraption, or 'babywearing' as its known. It's supposed to promote bonding and make your life easier while you can be close to your baby hands free. That being said I've been through about 4 different carriers and haven't really found one that Vince and I both like. There's a huge market out there and lots to choose from. Right now I have the Moby Wrap, the Maya Sling, the Fisher Price front carrier, and the Ergo carrier all hanging on our exercise bike like Christmas ornaments. That seems to be the only thing our exercise bike is good for these days!

A couple weeks ago I tried my friend's Ergo carrier and Vince and I both seemed to like it. Here are a few pics of Vince chilling out with me in the Ergo:

My Mommy Is a Nut

My mommy decided to try out some cloth diapers on me even though they are size medium and way too big for me! Here are some pictures of me looking like a sumo wrestler in these oversize cloth diapers

New Friend Ramona

We went to visit a college friend of Mike's who has a 6 month old daughter Ramona. Vince's other friend Aaron came too and the babies had fun together while the parents sat and had fun talking about poopy diapers and sleepless nights

Ramona Towering over Vince: I think I heard him singing "I see London, I see France, I see Ramona's....."

Vince giving Ramona some tips on what to do with her hair (he's become quite an expert with all of his)

Ramona and Vince were very concerned about Aaron being upset

This is Ramona starting her attempt at giving Vince a kiss, it was so cute!

Weekend Visitors

My friend and co-worker Georgia came to meet Vince this weekend and brought her three children. They were very excited to each get to hold Vince and all of them did a great job with him. Tessa the oldest girl was ready to babysit for me anytime we wanted! Here are some cute pics. It was fun to see how crazy our lives will be when we have more than one child running around in this house... the kids loved our cats, who ran hiding under the bed until the coast was clear.

Vince is one month old!

Today Vince is one month old, and we can't believe how fast that month went by. It is mostly a blur as we are still pretty sleep deprived, but he's so cute that it's worth it. We are getting into a little bit more of a schedule though: Mike and I split up the times we get up in the night so at least one of us gets to sleep a bit more.

Here is a picture of Vince and Mommy celebrating his one month birthday... we pretty much celebrate everything by trying to get some sleep :)

Here are some pictures of Vince's new 'apple hat' that our friend Emily made for him. It's so cute I couldn't resist putting it on him even though it's still a little big. I think he liked having it on though

First Baby Sitters

On Friday Lisa had a medical appointment and asked our neighbors if they wanted to watch Vince for about 1 1/2 hours. Emma and Becca (left to right) were delighted to be able to take care of Vince.... Becca having mentioned that she forgot how little babies are when they are newborns. Emma was a good helper to her mother and from the report when Lisa got home it sounds like Vince was a little Angel for them and mostly slept (unlike what he did the rest of the day).

Of course this being a monumental occasion Lisa took a picture for everyone's enjoyment.

Pictures Are Here!

A couple of weeks ago we had our wedding photographer stop by our place and take photos of Vince. The pictures are ready and are online now. Take a look at them here. The website is a little slow right now, but the photos are great!

Starting a Tradition

A coworker friend of mine gave me the idea of taking a picture of Vince in one of his Daddy's T-shirts every year to see how much he grows... so naturally Mike picked out this Italia T-shirt. Here is our first of several pictures we'll take over the years (or as long as he'll put up with it) of Vince in this shirt!

Lisa On Her Own

Today was the first day that Lisa was alone with Vince for the entire day. I went back to work last week for two days, and I'm back full time now. My parents also left this morning, so Lisa, who slept in a little, woke up to an empty house.

We also had another appointment with the NP today to make sure that Vince is gaining weight. He didn't gain any weight his second week while we were trying to figure out this breastfeeding thing. We were confident that he put on weight this past week, and when we weighed him, he put on half a pound! Looks like he's making up for lost time.

Here are a couple of pictures from my parents' visit. My Mom was here for a little over a week, and my Dad was here for a day.

Here's Vince with his Nonna. I talked to my Mom this afternoon, and she missed him already.

Fourth of July

We decided that we were going to pass on the 4th of July fireworks on the Esplanade this year. It's not that the fireworks were too late for Vince, they were too late for the rest of us.

We did go to a cookout at Alastair and Jane's house. Vince was by far the youngest baby there. There were four toddlers, all around 18 months old. They had an incredible amount of energy, and were fascinated by Vince. Mostly they pointed at him and shouted "baby," while Vince gazed vacantly or snoozed. Here's a picture of Elsa rocking Vince in his car seat.

Here are some photos of Vince in his 4th of July outfit that Aunt Ruthie sent.

The Baby Brigade

Vince had some friends come over earlier this week.... we all had a lot of fun walking around the park near our house, and made it back to our place just in time to get out of a crazy rain and wind storm that came our way!

Here we have from left to right: Sylvie (6 months), her cousins Tayeb and Iman (3months), and little Vince (2 weeks)... he's got some growing to do! Sylvie's mom was commenting that the babies are lucky she isn't rolling over much anymore or it would have been a baby steamrolling session!

setting out for the walk...

Visit to Naomi's

We took Vince on his first brunch date over at Naomi's last weekend. He got to meet Naomi and Stefan and thank them for getting married... because that's where his parents met. Here's a picture of Vince thanking Naomi personally

Vince also got to meet Nancy, a long time friend and travel buddy of Lisa's. Vince and Nancy share the same birthday... so Vince was excited to meet Nancy and sing a belated happy birthday. Here's Vince giving a little birthday song to Nancy...
Jenny brought over a pie to celebrate the birthday occasion as well

Pic of the Day, 7/1

Today's photos aren't of Vince, but it looks an awful lot like him! Here are a couple of photos of Mike as a 5 week old. The resemblance is uncanny.

My Dad always said that I was an ugly baby. I'm curious to see if he will say the same about Vince when we sees him on Sunday. I'll post his reaction.
Vince is doing better the last couple of days. The weekend was tough, as we went from supplementing with formula to nursing only. However, Vince dropped a little weight when we did this, so we realize this is not going to work right now. We're back to supplementing with formula, and we're going to continue to do this until at least Monday next week. In the meantime, Lisa will be pumping to keep up her milk supply. It's been pretty stressful at times, but now that Vince is getting a full belly, he's pretty content.
